Clinical Research
University Hepatitis Center at Bach and Godofsky focuses primarily on Hepatitis C and HIV research. Specific clinical trials can be found at http://clinicaltrials.gov/.

In order to be considered for a Hepatitis C clinical trial, you will need evidence of chronic infection (a positive antibody and positive viral load), a genotype, and a recent complete blood count and chemistry panel. Have your doctor fax the information to our office. You may followup with a phone call directly to our clinical trials manager at 941-684-4305 to further discuss a course of action and find out if any clinical trials are available to you.

The clinical trials are sponsored by drug companies. However, the FDA has over-site of all clinical trials in the United States. A patient must meet all the criteria set forth in the clinical trial in order to participate. Being a clinical trial participant requires a commitment in exchange for treatment being covered by the sponsor. Learn more about clinical trial participation at http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/info/understand.
